On a blistering hot day in spring 1862, a group of Mexican soldiers advanced on the French army at Puebla, Mexico. Despite being outnumbered 2 to 1 they defeated their foes. The day was May 5th - Cinco de Mayo. As they raised their victory flags, the Mexican soldiers cried out, "Viva Burritos!" because they were really fricken hungry after fighting all day. To honor their bravery we have declared the month of May "Burrito Appreciation Month"
