Gio's

Friends,
Gio's is a bar on Damen and Ainslie in Chicago. The burrito I ordered from there had steak and cheese and lettuce and sour cream and beans. All in all it was very average. The nice thing was that I was outside enjoying a nice afternoon breeze and a few bottles of suds as I ate. Other than that I can't really say too many nice things about this burrito other than the fact that it was warm. 'Meh' is about as much praise as I can heap at this point in time. I'll give it a 4.5. I might return to Gio's, though, because there seemed to be an inordinate number of drunk women there in the middle of the day. Perhaps I shall wax philosophic about burrito appreciation month and woo them back to my tastefully decorated condo for coitus. A boy can dream can't he?

Until next time.......

Big Blue

Hello friends,
Today I will tell you about a burrito I had at the Phoenix airport. It was from a burrito purveyor called Blue Burrito. I ordered a burrito called Big Blue Half Size. This burrito cost $5.95. I can't imagine buying a full size burrito for $12 and I'm not even sure you can since it's not on the menu, but I suppose if I was really, really hungry I would consider it. The Big Blue had lots of stuff - steak, black beans, rice, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. There may have been other ingredients as well but these are the ones I could determine with certainty. All in all this was a pretty good burrito. If I was rating it based on other airport food I would give it a 9, but since I am rating it based on all burritos around the world I must give it a 6. If you are ever in the Phoenix airport, terminal four, between gates A21 and A23 you should give this burrito a try.

I'll be in Tacoma, WA next week........I wonder what kind of burrito the Northwest will offer?

Goodbye for now and good burrito hunting to you all!

An old favorite

Fellow Lovers of Burritos,
Hello again. I find myself this week in Phoenix. I used to live here and enjoyed many burritos during my stay. Phoenix has lots of Mexican residents hence, many burrito options. Today I dined on a burrito from Chipotle (pronounced Chipotle). A lot of Mexicans work here so they must own it. I had a burrito with Steak, Black Beans, Rice, hot sauce, cheese and sour cream. Many people do not get the hot sauce here. They say it is too hot. I say they are cowards and should go somewhere very far away where they can reflect on their cowardice without having it rub off on the rest of us. All in all it was a very pleasant burrito. I give it a 7.

Burrito update

Hello friends,
It's been too long. I must update you on my burrito consumption news. Since the start of the month I've had three burritos - yes, a number too small for certain, but soon to be a number much greater.

Burrito #1 5/6/2007: I had a burrito at Allende on Lincoln and Fullerton near the DePaul campus. It made me very happy indeed. It was filled with steak and beans and lettuce and sour cream and cheese. I believe I will rank this burrito a 6. If I had been less sober, this ranking would have been higher......although I suppose that goes without saying.

Burrito #2 5/9/2007: I ate at La Bamba in Des Moines, IA. This should not be confused with the La Bamba burrito chain because they are not one and the same. This La Bamba was a sit down place and there was no puke in the bathroom toilets. My burrito was called the California Burrito. I assume it was named after the spot where most of the cooks crossed the border into the USA. It was definitely a site to behold: a foot long at least and covered with green sauce, white cheese sauce, and red salsa - it looked like a Mexican flag. I give this burrito a 6.5.

Burrito #3 5/11/2007: Garcia's on Lincoln and Lawrence. This burrito was huge! And chock full of pork and steak. I couldn't eat the whole thing and felt much shame asking for a to go box. This is a terrific burrito place. You can tell the people that work there take much pride in what they do and greater pride in wasting food because no one except Big John Stud himself would be able to eat a burrito in one sitting. I give this burrito an 8.

Good Bye for now, and good burrito eating to you all!
